Industry leaders and experts recently gathered for the annual Global Water Summit – among them, San Antonio Water System (SAWS) – where its membership was renewed in the Leading Utilities of the World (LUOW) network for continuing to demonstrate its commitment to innovation.
As a LUOW member, SAWS continues to share best practices and lessons learned at the global level to not only promote conservation efforts, but with an understanding that as a shared resource, it’s in the best interest to share information to preserve water use for future generations worldwide.
Initially selected to join LUOW in late 2017, SAWS is only one in a handful of utility companies across the United States that has been selected for membership. Known to the industry as experts on drought response, water resources development and wastewater treatment, SAWS continues to lend its expertise in a time when temperatures and the need for water continues to rise.
“Now more than ever, it is important to prepare to meet the challenges of the future,” said Robert R. Puente, SAWS President/CEO. “As a continued member in this exclusive network we can unite in a global response to share information and provide sustainable and affordable water services to our respective communities.”
About the LUOW

The purpose of LUOW is to create a global network of the world’s most successful and innovative water and wastewater utilities to help drive performance across the sector by recognizing achievement, providing a network for sharing ideas, and inspiring others to improve.
LUOW inductees must be nominated by other gold-standard utilities and complete a rigorous interview and selection process.
